Guest Speaker #2- Vic Mitchell
In Tuesday's class, September 7th, we had our second guest speaker for our Sports Administration class. He is currently coaching at Shorter University for women's basketball. He was an undergrad at the University of Ga, and also managed men's basketball in 1981. His first job was surprisingly at Reinhardt College, which back then was a Junior College. He was here for 6 years and was the head coach for basketball. He explained that in a sports related profession, you must bring people together by having people skills. He started at Shorter in 1990 and also coached slowpitch softball for three years. After that, cross country for five, and women's golf for another five. Coach Mitchel decided to leave Reinhardt, because Rome seemed to be the right choice for many reasons. For one, more stability, and it was a bigger town with much more to do than good ole Waleska, and also personal reasons. He told us how Shorter gives away 24 full ride scholorships to football players and how there's more than 100 players on the team. There's also a roster minumum you have to maintain. He set a good example for our class and I really enjoyed his speech!
